All the tourists in the NBA store and Abercrombie finish shopping and say, WTH is going on? It gets more crowded near the ESB at 34th St, and it's a complete mob scene in the Village (which can be fantastic, but sweaty!) I find that midtown around 55th - 42nd Streets is the least crowded for spectators. Not to jinx anything (spit, spit, spit), but Gay Pride weather is usually very hot and sunny, so if you're on the east side of the street, the sun will be in your eyes most of the time. I'd reco watching from the west side of 5th Avenue, as the sun will move behind you as the day progresses.
LOL, so true! It goes on so long, even diehard fans are heard to say, "gawd, ANOTHER float full of hot, shirtless men and sparkly drag queens? Sheesh, when can we go to a bar?"īut seriously, it is awesome, with groups ranging from homeless LGBT teens, to lesbian grandmas, to LGBT police, fire, EMS and teacher groups, and of course the noisy Dykes on Bikes MC and the last living 1969 Stonewall Riot Veterans - not to mention the aforementioned sparkly people! I highly reco being early enough to see the start of the march with all the pomp and circumstance.
